Research has shown that chronic stress, which is experienced at staggeringly high levels by low-income women, can cause significant losses of mental bandwidth as well as other mental and physical ailments. This video is the first of a three-part series, in which Pro Mujer clients learn practical exercises to help them manage daily stressors. Clients are encouraged to practice these discrete exercises at work or at home so as to proactively manage stress and help mitigate the deleterious effects it can have on health. Pro Mujer recognizes that a holistic approach to health and well-being is critical to the success of our clients. In addition to the direct provision of clinical services, Pro Mujer focuses on supporting sustainable behavior change through a range of dynamic activities, including bi-annual social marketing educational campaigns. This series on stress reduction and relaxation techniques is designed to be shown across three consecutive communal bank meetings, and is followed up by a short discussion led by credit officers to reinforce key concepts.
